Mills & Reeve appointed sole legal adviser to British Cycling

British Cycling work across various disciplines of the sport including BMX, BMX Freestyle Park, Cycle Speedway and Road and Track. They are committed to a range of initiatives from ‘playground to podium’ to inspire increased participation and create a true cycling nation.

The appointment covers contract and general commercial and sports law, constitutional structures and powers, data protection, employment law, property and planning law, litigation and miscellaneous general legal advice. The contract is for a minimum of three years and reflects Mills & Reeve’s growing expertise in this sector and their increasing work with sports governing bodies.

Rod Findlay, Integrity and Compliance Director at British Cycling, said: “It was an excellent presentation and overall the panel were very impressed with their expertise and submission.”

This new appointment coincided with Tiran Gunawardena appointment as an arbitrator for the cycling world governing body - Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI). Tiran will sit on both the UCI Arbitral Board and the UCI Disciplinary Commission for the next two years.
