Our team advises microbiome body care brand on latest funding round
The latest funding round also included existing investors, Redrice Ventures and Joyance Partners, and new angel investors, Peanut founder Michelle Kennedy, Indu and Feelunique co-founder Aaron Chatterley, Mintel chair of beauty and wellness Jane Henderson, and DMG Ventures principal Taos Edmondson.
Last year, Luna Daily raised £2million to fund its US market entry, which saw the brand’s launch at beauty retailer, Sephora.
London-based Luna Daily was launched in 2022 by beauty industry expert, Katy Cottam. Katy, who was formerly global head of brand at Charlotte Tilbury, had a mission to create microbiome balancing body care products for ”women of all ages and at every stage of womanhood”. Developed alongside gynaecologists and dermatologists, Luna Daily’s products are 100% recyclable and formulated with 100% vegan and cruelty-free ingredients. The products are sold in Harrods, Holland & Barrett and Boots, and on online platforms such as Cult Beauty and Unfabled.
Katy, who said the latest investment will fuel the company’s marketing activities with the aim of creating a global brand, commented: “I'm thrilled to announce Unilever Ventures as our newest investment partner. The collaboration will bring their unparalleled global expertise and resources at such an exciting time for Luna Daily's growth. This collaboration feels incredibly organic, as we have been in conversations with Unilever Ventures since the inception of Luna Daily. Their support of our vision to cater to all ages and stages of womanhood, including our newest category of motherhood, made this the perfect time to begin our partnership.”
Zickie Lim, partner and head of venture capital and investment at Mills & Reeve, said: “This latest fund raising demonstrates how Luna Daily is emerging as a leading consumer brand. Katy has created a sustainable product that resonates with females around the world, and it was a huge pleasure to help secure the investment as Luna Daily forges ahead with its global expansion plans.”
Anna Ohlsson-Baskerville, partner at Unilever Ventures, the venture capital and private equity arm of Unilever, says: “We are excited by how Katy has elevated the consumer experience of body wash and care with her microbiome balancing formulations for all skin. She used her own experience to create an offering that cares for women’s bodies in their entirety and for all stages of womanhood. We think that is a powerful and empowering idea. Daily routines have now been transformed into desirable rituals.”
