Golden Triangle

Mills & Reeve, in collaboration with Bidwells, deliver a unique insight into the Oxford, Cambridge, London supercluster – often called the ‘Golden Triangle’ – that will explore the way businesses in the technology, life sciences and real estate sectors work together.

Throughout 2024, Mills & Reeve and Bidwells will hold three roundtable discussions and explore these themes further localised to each point of the triangle. We will celebrate the very best that business and academia deliver when working together. Events will be held in Oxford where we will explore the ambitions of science and technology businesses, Cambridge where we will bring life sciences businesses together, and London where we will discuss real estate and the investment needed to ensure continued success. We will explore each location’s offer, nuances and challenges, as well as the wider picture.

Golden Triangle podcast

Mills & Reeve, in collaboration with Bidwells, deliver a unique insight into the Oxford, Cambridge, London supercluster – often called the ‘Golden Triangle’ – that will explore the way businesses in the technology, life sciences and real estate sectors work together. This podcast complements a series of three reports based on roundtable discussions exploring these themes further localised to each point of the triangle.

Host Zickie Lim, partner and head of venture capital and investment at Mills & Reeve, is joined by a trio of guests:

  • David Williams, senior director at Advanced Research Clusters and commercial director at Harwell Science and Innovation Campus
  • Karen Maher, general counsel at Advanced Research Clusters
  • Ben Copithorne, managing director at Camargue

In this episode, we hear their thoughts on Oxfordshire’s investment landscape for startups and spinouts, opportunities for investors, storytelling on an international stage, and key teachings from other world-class ecosystems.

In the first episode of the Golden Triangle podcast, we explore key themes around accessing and retaining talent, and look at why it is fundamental to a successful innovation. William Downing, a partner in Mills & Reeve’s employment team based in Oxford, is joined by Steve Burgess, CEO at The Oxford Trust, and Deborah Spencer, deputy head of industry partnerships at University of Oxford, to discuss the opportunities and challenges around talent attraction and retention in more detail.
